Meet the Artist: Amanda Stewart
Amanda Stewart is a Central New York-based fiber and textile artist. Primarily self-taught, much of what she has learned can be attributed to growing up in a creative family with a DIY attitude, community art classes and workshops, and the Internet (of course). Introduced to sewing, knitting and crocheting as a child by her mother and grandmother, her love of crafting was reignited as a young adult when she found a knitting community in Pacific Grove, Calif. In addition to creating functional and decorative items, Amanda is exploring mixed media art, prioritizing used and vintage materials to promote sustainability, and to connect historical themes with present day social issues.
