Together, the programs of the three divisions make Munson the chief provider of cultural resources in the region. The Museum of Art is renowned for its art collection and Phillip Johnson-designed building. The School of Art offers the nationally accredited PrattMunson foundation program in its affiliation with Pratt Institute and a community arts education program offering art classes and workshops. PrattMunson College of Art and Design is an NASAD accredited foundation college art program, created through an affiliation between Munson, Utica, NY, and Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY. Students do their first two foundation years of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at here at our campus and then matriculate to the Brooklyn campus for completion. Job Summary
The Admissions Counselor and Content Creator is an entry-level position in the Office of Admission that works to recruit and enroll qualified students to PrattMWP. The position works closely with the Admissions and Creative Strategy Director at PrattMWP and the Director of Admissions at Pratt Institute to design and deliver a wide range of recruitment and enrollment services. The position manages prospects and applicants, counsels students, conducts portfolio reviews and represents PrattMWP at a wide-range of events. In addition, the position will create creative content for social media and presentations that support admissions, enrollment, and retention. The Admissions Counselor and Content Creator should maintain in-depth knowledge of the curriculum, facilities, faculty and alumni for each major.
The position requires independent judgment and discretion and includes assisting with the training of student employees.
The position requires occasional travel as needed for recruitment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Interview students, conduct group information sessions, and represent PrattMWP at recruitment events, portfolio days, high schools, community colleges, college fairs, and arts organizations, etc;
Speak publicly to individuals and groups during in-person and virtual events and meetings;
Develop and design creative content for presentations and social media channels as related to admissions, enrollment, and retention;
Develop and maintain close working relationships with key secondary school constituents;
Review application materials, credentials, and portfolios to determine eligibility for admission and scholarship;
Assist in the planning and delivery of on-campus recruitment and portfolio review events;
Field incoming communications from, and make outgoing communications to, prospective students, parents, educators and counselors;
Maintain a strong understanding and accurate account of information about the academic majors and the PrattMWP community;
Assist in the development, maintenance and execution of the department's communication plan to prospective and admitted students;
Provide basic information and guidance to assist prospective students on available majors, eligibility requirements, and all relative admissions policies and procedures;
Assist deposited applicants with the business of enrollment and the completion of required forms. Serve as a liaison for the student with offices across campus including: student financial services, residential life, academic advisement, health services, academic support services, international affairs, and the registrar;
Maintain accurate and current prospect and applicant records in Admissions databases;
Utilize data to inform recruitment planning and activities;
Maintain general knowledge on financial aid processes;
Stay current on industry trends and best practices of the profession of college admission counseling;
Serve on intra-divisional committees and at special events;
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required, BFA or significant coursework in art and design preferred;
One to two years of previous transferrable work experience desired. Previous work on a college campus, especially in Admissions, a plus;
Strong design skills and proven track record working with social media in a professional manner within the arts;
Interest in supporting the goals of higher education and the mission of Munson-Williams and PrattMWP;
Sincere interest in working with diverse populations;
Strong people skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Facility with Photoshop, Canva, Social Media platforms, Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work with databases;

Position Summary
The Assistant Curator of American Art, who reports to the Director and Chief Curator of the Museum of Art, will direct the development of the American art collection (pre-1915), including exhibition planning, acquisition and deaccession recommendations, permanent collection display and interpretation, and constituent building. The work of the Assistant Curator will foster regional and national recognition of the collection through scholarship, public speaking, and outreach.

Essential Job Functions
Exhibitions
Propose exhibitions based on the permanent collection, the curator’s original research, and identify and assess proposed exhibitions from other institutions
Oversee the planning, installation, and related activities of exhibitions related to the permanent collection as well as incoming load exhibitions
Collections
Research the collection and identify priorities for acquisitions and deaccessions in alignment with Munson's strategic plan and collections policy
Identify conservation needs and oversee work with an outside conservation laboratory
Evaluate outside load requests; serve as a courier as required
Work in partnership with Museum Education colleagues to develop public programs and innovative interpretation for visitor engagement with the permanent collection and for special exhibitions; contribute to docent training
Conduct independent research and assist outside contracted scholars or curators as required
Assess the display of the collection for adjustment and plan for future installations
Outreach
Author texts and produce digital material on the collections and exhibitions that appeal to a broad range of visitors and constituents
Present gallery talks, formal lectures, and casual local community outreach

Develop and implement annual departmental and curatorial project budgets
Manage interns and volunteers as appropriate
Institutional

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Master’s degree in art history is required; Ph.D. is preferred. Demonstrated expertise in American painting and sculpture from 1700 to 1950. A knowledge of decorative arts is helpful but not required.
Three years of progressively responsible experience in an art museum is required. Additional experience developing and implementing exhibitions is preferred.
Demonstrated scholarly achievement, including original research
Ability to plan, organize, and implement complex tasks with attention to detail, meet goals, and work within deadlines and budgets
Ability to develop and maintain effective, positive working relationships

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $45,000 to $55,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience

Job Summary
Perform troubleshooting, maintenance and service repairs on plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems. Also performs electrical repair/installation, EMCS computer monitoring; pneumatics, and computerized or electronic controls installation when required.

Essential Job Functions
Performs preventative maintenance by following work orders to grease, oil, change filters, clean calibrate, adjust, test, and inspect all heating/plumbing equipment. Oversee cooling tower maintenance. Maintain a schedule for inspecting, servicing, and testing machinery.
Complete general plumbing repairs including repairing leaks, snaking out clogged drains, etc. Properly braze, solder, and make basic plumbing repairs.
Install and repair equipment by utilizing knowledge of hot water and steam heating, HVAC, plumbing and electrical procedures. Repair, charge, and service residential and commercial A/C and kitchen equipment. Operate EMCS control systems including making system adjustments and correcting system errors. Install and troubleshoot wiring and pneumatic controls.
Repair and make changes to commercial phone system
Respond to emergency situations as required outside of regular work hours
Perform additional duties outside of the Building Maintenance Technician position within the facilities group as required.
Organizational Service: Will serve on intra-departmental committees as required and complete other duties as assigned.

Assists in construction of annual summer arts festival fencing, stage and FE Invitational.

The Museum Technician assists the Museum of Art Registrar and Exhibition Manager in maintaining galleries and exhibitions; installing, de-installing, moving, and shipping of the permanent collections and objects on loan to Munson. Work involves the use of a variety of equipment and techniques necessary to produce quality museum exhibitions. Responsibilities
Performs the installation and de-installation of the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. Work involves the use of a wide variety of equipment and techniques necessary to produce quality museum exhibitions. Maintains galleries and display materials.
Performs skilled hand and bench work; including finish carpentry using a wide variety of specialty materials (wood, metal, Plexiglas, glass, plastic, laminates) used in the exhibition of museum objects. Work includes occasional painting, crate making, and exhibit lighting; sets up and dismantles exhibits and is involved in all phases of picture hanging, object mounting, and installation per curatorial and conservation guidelines and under the direction of the Registrar and Exhibition Manager. Estimates equipment, time, and materials needed to complete projects.
Maintains Museum of Art workshop and area and repairs machines and tools in the work areas to ensure the safety of the users and to meet OSHA standards. Establishes safe and effective procedures for the operation of the museum workshop.
Responsible for the installation of lighting for all exhibitions, including maintaining good working order of the track lighting fixtures.
Builds specialized archival storage housing for art objects. Installs and removes vinyl graphics.
Works with volunteers, interns, contract labor, and other museum staff as needed, including physical plant personnel who assist in the construction, installation, and maintenance of exhibits.
In conjunction with the Registrar and Exhibition Manager, receives and unpacks art arriving at the Museum, properly prepares, wraps and crates outgoing loans, builds crates, paints cases, risers and wall mounts, and assists in maintaining the Museum collection storage areas and the physical condition of the collection according to professionally accepted standards. Transports exhibition furniture to offsite storage and maintains an inventory of all non-collection related storage objects including risers, crates, bonnets and display cases.
In conjunction with the Maintenance and Grounds staff, installs and removes the Summer Arts Festival fence. Prepares, installs, monitors, and de-installs all artwork on the fence for the Summer Arts Festival Sidewalk show.
Occasional travel or driving medium size trucks for business-related purposes. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Trade, associate degree, or museum experience. Carpentry, general construction skills, knowledge of art handling/exhibition practices, basic computer skills, and knowledge of OSHA standards are integral to the position. Manual dexterity and ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 lbs. Occasional travel or driving medium size trucks are part of duties.
Compensation and Benefits
Hiring rate $16.00 to $18.00 hourly for a 35 hour work week.

The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for leading the Institute’s retail operations at both the Museum Shop and Campus Store. Under the direction and supervision of the Treasurer, the Retail Operations Manager is a creative, collaborative, and detail-oriented position that includes maintaining and developing a selection of products related to the Munson Museum of Art and its collection and to the Pratt Munson College program and its needs. Essential Job Functions
Merchandise sourcing and purchasing
Meet with vendors to evaluate, develop and purchase merchandise. Ensure availability of merchandise by reviewing inventory levels. Coordinate all necessary inventories for special exhibitions and other Institute events. Attend related merchandise trade shows.
Formulate pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; authorizing clearance sales. Establish retail pricing to achieve maximum earnings potential. Supervise all merchandise receipt and processing in POS system. Manage and expand the e-commerce operation.
Oversee and manage retail operations budget
Establish and achieve targets for retail metrics such as Sales, Cost of Goods, Gross Margin and Net Profit. Regularly review sales reports, analyze sales trends, making adjustments to inventory and purchases as needed to achieve business goals. Analyze operating costs. Assure that cost-effective inventories and product management are maintained. Schedule payment of expenditures and deposit income. Plan, schedule, and conduct annual physical inventory and reconcile with POS system.
Supervisory relations
Responsible for properly staffing Retail Operations by hiring, training, developing and evaluating staff performance. Provide daily supervision of retail operations employees, providing constructive, and positive feedback. Exercise sound managerial feedback and decision-making pertaining to employee relations and personnel actions.
Marketing
Responsible for ensuring exceptional quality of visual displays in the Museum Shop and Campus Store. Collaborate with Museum and School of Art departments and Marketing and Communications team to design and implement advertising campaigns, articles, and flyers.
Customer Relations
Promote excellence in customer experience across both retail locations. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with customers, vendors, and Institute staff.
Initiate product development for retail locations
Meet with staff from Museum division and School division to coordinate with ideas, design, materials, quantity, ethics of development of merchandise from the collection. Research and contract with vendors for finished product.
Other Responsibilities
Oversee all functions of retail operations in line with policies, ethics, finance, audit and security procedures. Assess and update policies and procedures as needed. May perform other responsibilities to ensure productive teamwork.
Organizational Service
Serve on Munson interdivisional committees as required and complete other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
This position requires a minimum formal education of Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years job-related experience in retail management or a relevant combination of education and experience. Background in art, studio art, Museum retail, preferred. Knowledge of art supplies and materials especially helpful. Computer literacy in point of sale systems, database management, Microsoft and Google expertise, excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated initiative, and ability to switch roles as necessary as part of a small, dynamic team are essential qualities. Enter expenses on spreadsheet to assist Dean in maintaining budgetary expenditures.

Position Overview
Under the direction of the Treasurer, the Senior Accountant will perform a wide range of accounting duties, including accounts payable, journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations, report preparation and analysis of financial information. The Senior Accountant will also assist with cyclical accounting responsibilities such as month-end, year-end, budgeting, 1099 preparation, quarterly sales, and unclaimed funds reporting and will act as backup to the student accounting office.
Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Process - Complete audit of payment requests for accuracy. Acts as a liaison between the Finance Department and other departments throughout Munson to discuss discrepancies if/when they arise, verify final batch totals and print A/P checks in accordance with Finance Department procedures and schedules (3 times per month). In special cases, process individual, manual checks when the need arises between scheduled check runs at the request of the Treasurer or President. Prepare Check Reconciliation System (CRS) spreadsheets for each check run, as well as any manual checks, to be sent to the bank deposit services department to ensure efficient bank processing of all checks and to help prevent fraud from occurring via fake checks being fabricated and cashed.
Month-End Journal Entries and Account Analysis - Prepare all assigned monthly journal entries in a timely fashion. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the accounting information compiled during the month, record, consolidate when necessary, and enter the transactions into the accounting software for reports to be generated and distributed. Prepare supplemental reports upon request for financial statements and special projects..
Reconciliations - Maintain the general ledger accounts including verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies. Also maintain the external bank accounts associated with Munson to ensure accuracy and examine monthly (more frequently if needed) for any potential fraudulent or incorrect transactions to be remedied immediately.
Deposit Transmittals - Ensure currency, checks, and credit card transactions to be deposited are correct and balanced. Upon deposit, examine the transmittal reports in a timely and efficient manner to inspect for any errors in balancing the entire transaction, verify that the account numbers listed are correct, ensure the accuracy of the amounts being deposited into each account, and verify that the proper documentation is attached for any potential future audit purposes.
Praxis Corporation - Handle the deposits in the same fashion as described above for an associated LLC. Prepare all of the accounting entries each month and every year end for the separate corporate entity operated in conjunction with the Institute. Prepare the monthly financial statements to be distributed for the Corporation. Reconcile the general ledger and bank accounts for Praxis Corporation.
Reporting for Grant Purposes - Upon request, prepare financial reports verifying the information submitted with the numerous grant applications processed on behalf of the Institute annually. When granted any funds, prepare supplemental financial reports at the request of the granting agency (mid-point and conclusion of the grant period if necessary). Working with the grants administrator, maintain a calendar of due dates for grant reporting to ensure compliance.
Annual Budget Preparation - Initially, prepare all necessary budget worksheets for each department verifying the accuracy of the worksheets, troubleshooting any formula errors, and editing the sheets to ensure only relevant budget data can be edited by department heads. Ensure the worksheets are available to any individual deemed relevant to the budgeting process in each department. Keep track of received budget binders to ensure all are completed and delivered in compliance with Finance procedures. Deliver to Treasurer in a timely manner, and assist with compiling and analyzing budget data for the preparation of the final budget to be distributed for approval.
Monthly Financial Statements - assist with preparing accurate statements--review for errors and notify Treasurer of any discrepancies or corrections required.
Annual End-of-Year Close - Assist Treasurer with end-of-year close and external audit process requests. Prepare an end-of-year calendar with important deadlines for all things related to the fiscal year that will be closed out. Prepare helpful end-of-year reference guide to help new employees experiencing their first year-end close or those requiring a refresher. Ensure all accounts payable expenses are received or accrued per Finance procedure, especially those that occur on a recurring basis (i.e. utilities). Prepare numerous year-end detail reports, journal entries, and reconciliations. Verify that any receivables are received or booked in a timely manner. Upon auditor request, prepare any necessary reports, pull any requested A/P payment vouchers, deposit transmittals, or other financial documents for review. Prepare and book necessary year-end closing and adjusting entries at the guidance of the Treasurer or external auditors.
Annual 1099 Preparation, Quarterly Sales, and Unclaimed Funds - Responsible for aid in the annual preparation of 1099-MISC reports sent to all applicable individuals paid throughout the calendar year. Ensure these reports accurately depict the taxable amounts paid to each necessary individual, and that they are sent out within the guidelines set by the IRS. Report sales tax quarterly to the State of New York in compliance with mandated timelines; ensure all deposit transmittals for the applicable tax period are correct and entered into the accounting system. Process the electronic payment on time to avoid any penalties. Throughout the year, monitor any outstanding checks in jeopardy of being considered “stale-dated”. Periodically, prepare and send letters to the owners of checks deemed outstanding to remedy the situation before funds need to be turned over to the State. For funds that remain in Munson’s possession for three calendar years, notify the owners (one final time) in compliance with State mandates and timelines. If no contact can be made before the deadline, prepare the appropriate forms and send the correct amount of funds to the State of New York for Unclaimed Funds processing through the Comptroller’s Office.
Back Up Student Accounting - Keep current with student accounting procedures and maintain a positive relationship with the Student Bursar. Upon request, prepare student invoices, receive student payments, post student payments, and resolve any potential billing discrepancies.
Qualifications
Education and Experience – Bachelor degree in Accounting and 3 to 5 years’ experience in an accounting/bookkeeping position. Not-for-profit experience preferred. Computer literacy in database management, Microsoft and Google software expertise, excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated initiative, and ability to switch roles as necessary as part of a small, dynamic team are essential qualities. Must possess the ability to work with diverse groups of people, ranging from staff, faculty, students, and parents.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range $55,000–$60,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Serves as an active member of the Bias Response Team.
Maintains a positive working relationship and open communications with Facilities, Auxiliary Services, Campus Security, Food Service, and Enrollment Management/Admissions departments. Works closely with the Admissions staff, Registrar, and Academic Chair to ensure attainment of enrollment and retention goals.
Advises and provides training for student council members and student groups. Offers and provides academic advisement and guidance to students in matters relating to outcome success. Ensures required and other training is accomplished for students and staff.
Manages Student Life budget.
Organizes orientation and commencement ceremonies.
Develops strong lines of communications and partnership between Pratt Munson and graduates of the Pratt Munson program.
Collaborates with Pratt Institute in Brooklyn to ensure up-to-date protocols and student relocation plans.

Munson, located in Utica, NY, is seeking to fill a full-time one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Jewelry in its Pratt Munson College of Art and Design program starting Fall 2023. Review of applications will begin immediately, and be accepted until the position is filled.

The qualifications of the candidate should include an MFA in Jewelry, Metalsmithing, or related field. Preference will be afforded to applicants with significant experience working in a range of jewelry techniques including cold-connection, fabrication, soldering, centrifugal casting, metal forming, and basic-advanced stone setting. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach introductory to intermediate levels of traditional methods along with contemporary methods including rapid prototyping technologies. The position includes a 3/3 course load for the academic year including the following courses: Jewelry I, Ideation & Concept for Jewelers, Jewelry II, Lost Wax Casting for
Jewelry, Perspectives in Jewelry: CAD/CAM Technology, and a History of Jewelry Design (or a Foundation class depending on enrollment). There is potential to teach in the Community Arts program under an additional contract.
The ideal candidate will oversee and maintain the Jewelry and Metal Arts area studio and equipment that is utilized by both the Pratt Munson college classes and Community Arts programming. They will manage the budget and work with the Studio Technician on coordinating the inventory and ordering materials. Our jewelry facility includes a fully equipped metalworking studio, equipped with natural gas/compressed air torch stations, rolling mills, flex shafts, buffing wheels, tumbler, hydraulic press, casting station equipped with 2 kilns, vacuum table, centrifugal caster, electromelt, oxy/acetylene torch and individual benches for students.
Faculty members are expected to be active as creative and exhibiting artists or designers and participate in service to the Pratt Munson program and Institute. Preference will be given to candidates with at least three years experience teaching in higher education.
Salary/Benefits - $45,000 salary with full benefits including health, dental, vision, and group life insurances.

Pratt Munson College of Art and Design is a NASAD accredited foundation college art program, created through an affiliation between Munson, Utica, NY, and Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY. Students do their first two foundation years of a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree at Pratt Munson, and then matriculate to the Brooklyn campus for completion. The PrattMunson campus houses approximately 230 students majoring in Fine Arts, Communications Design, Photography, and Art and Design Education.
