In this darkly comic sci-fi thriller, pharmaceutical CEO Michelle Fuller (Emma Stone) is kidnapped by two beekeepers (Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis) who believe she’s an alien determined to wipe out the human race. As the line between absurd paranoia and apocalyptic truth blurs, Bugonia evolves into a surreal, genre-bending satire of power, delusion, and ecological doom. The film had its world premiere in competition at the 2025 Venice Film Festival and has since earned nominations from both the European Film Awards and Gotham Independent Film Awards. Variety praised it as “a wild and galvanizing suspense thriller of action and ideas; it’s a movie that encompasses blood-splattering suicide, corporate dread, and cosmic absurdity.”
