Free summer class!
Ages 6-8 | Art Explorations II, Drawing + Painting
Week 1
with Katie Farkas | Ages 6–8 | All Levels
Kids learn to work from observation, memory, and imagination while experimenting with forms of drawing and painting with a variety of media and tools. While also discovering famous artists. Sessions include trips to the Museum of Art and class presentations.
July 13 to July 17
Monday-Friday, 9–11:30 a.m.
5 classes | 12.5 contact hours | Location: 503 William Street, Studio Building, Room 220
SNACK N’ SMOCK: Bring a smock (old shirt or apron) or simply dress for the mess. We will have a small snack and water available for the kids during the summer, but they are welcome to bring their own desired snack/drink.
EXPANDED HOURS: Early drop-off and late pick-up available from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for ages 4 - 12 during the summer morning art classes.
IMPORTANT: Limit 1 summer class per student.
Please do not register if not planning to attend the full week or course.
Space is limited.
Please cancel your registrations if plans change. To ensure the age appropriateness of the curriculum, children must meet the age requirement listed with each course description by the beginning of class.
Meet your instructor, Katie!
She/Her

Katie Farkas (they/she), an American artist, was born and raised on Long Island, NY. They have a BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in education from Adelphi University and a double minor in Philosophy and Art History. Farkas’ work consists mainly of mixed media pieces that explore what it means to bear witness and readdress fleeting moments in an effort to understand them. Farkas is also a dynamic non-profit professional and brings a strong background in arts education, membership, development, and community engagement to their current roles.
Kids art classes are free of charge this summer! Anyone can take part, regardless of economic circumstances, and we hope to welcome many new participants. Help support tuition-free classes and make a donation!
