American Landscapes: Painting En Plein Air

This four-session course focuses on a systematic approach to outdoor painting and a focus on fall color. Classes center around how to interpret the outdoor subject in an artistic way. Students are introduced to a formula that allows a “step-by-step” approach to successful results. Participants may choose to work with pastels, watercolors, acrylics, or oils however some familiarity with the chosen medium is recommended. In the case of inclement weather, please come with photo references to work from indoors or the instructor may provide source material. Any communications regarding meeting locations/changes and weather adjustments will be sent via email at least an hour in advance of class. This course celebrates the summer exhibition, American Landscapes From The New York Historical Society, and includes admission to explore the show. Materials list provided.

Location: On Location, Various sites in Oneida County

+ CLASS NOTES:  This class meets on-site at a variety of locations in Oneida County and may sometimes be rural. Students provide their own transportation and carriable supplies and should be able to walk over moderate hills with supplies.
