BEGINNING JEWELRY
18 + | Beginners | Shannon Stockbridge

Learn creative fine metalworking through demonstrations and projects geared toward the beginning jeweler. Techniques include sawing, piercing, texturing, riveting, chain making, soldering, and bezel-setting cabochon stones. Students utilize class and lab time to practice techniques and make finished pieces of jewelry. A starter materials kit can be purchased at the School of Art Reception Desk.

TO REGISTER FOR ON-CAMPUS CLASSES, COMMUNITY STUDENTS OVER 18 MUST: 
+ Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the first day of class (full vaccination is two weeks after the final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.)
+ Be prepared to show a vaccination record (physical card, or copy/digital photo of card) to the instructor at your first class. 
+ If not fully vaccinated by the time of the first day of class, we kindly request that you wait to take a class with us until you are.

BEGINNING JEWELRY MATERIALS INFO: 
Necessary hand tools & equipment are provided. Students are required to purchase a starter materials kit at the beginning of class, currently $21 plus tax, available at the School of Art reception desk. 

All metal needed and some expendable supplies including sandpaper, solder and saw blades are generally available for purchase at the School of Art reception desk. Copper, brass, and sterling silver are available for purchase on a project to project basis. All wire and findings are sterling silver. Varying sizes of material are available and cost is determined by current market value.
