Munson kicks off performance season with Sept. 12 Keyboard Conversation®

Friday, Aug. 28, 2026

Utica, N.Y. — Munson kicks off its robust performance season with an illuminating Keyboard Conversation® with acclaimed pianist Jeffrey Siegel. In his signature concert-with-commentary style, he will present Virtuoso Variations at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12, in the Museum of Art’s Sinnott Family–Bank of Utica Auditorium in downtown Utica.

In this performance, Jeffrey Siegel explores how a simple melody can be transformed into works of dazzling brilliance, profound emotion, and breathtaking virtuosity. The program features Beethoven's exhilarating Variations on God Save the King, Mendelssohn's deeply expressive Variations Sérieuses, Tchaikovsky's radiant Original Theme and Variations, built upon one of his most beautiful melodies, and Rachmaninoff's beloved 18th Variation from the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Along the way, Siegel reveals the fascinating stories behind these masterworks while demonstrating the remarkable creativity that makes each variation unique.

Siegel will be back at Munson for two more Keyboard Conversations® this season. At 2 p.m. Oct. 24, Siegel will perform The Romantic Music of Brahms, a selection of works celebrating the composer’s extraordinary range from exuberant to poetic. The third performance, Chopin in Paris, will bring Chopin’s remarkable musical world to life with unforgettable performances of some of his iconic masterpieces at 7:30 p.m. May 1.

Tickets are $32 for Munson Members, $38 for the general public, and $16 for students. Funding for Keyboard Conversations® is provided by Dr. Lorna Grant, Nancy Horvath, Drs. Douglas Hurd and Cynthia Parlato-Hurd, Gail Kulaga, and Dr. and Mrs. Robert Menotti.
