Job Summary
Munson is seeking to fill a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Jewelry and Metal Arts in its Pratt Munson College of Art and Design program starting Fall 2024. Application deadline is January 31, 2024. Review of applications will begin immediately.
The qualifications of the candidate should include an MFA in Jewelry, Metalsmithing, or related field. Preference will be afforded to applicants with significant experience working in a range of jewelry techniques including cold-connection, fabrication, soldering, casting, metal forming, and basic-advanced stone setting. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach introductory to intermediate levels of traditional methods along with contemporary methods including rapid prototyping technologies. The position includes a 3/3 course load for the academic year including the following courses: Jewelry I, Ideation & Concept for Jewelers, Jewelry II, Lost Wax Casting for Jewelry, Perspectives in Jewelry: CAD/CAM Technology, and a History of Jewelry Design (or a Foundation class depending on enrollment). There is potential to teach in the Community Arts program under an additional contract.
The ideal candidate will oversee and maintain the Jewelry and Metal Arts area studio and equipment that is utilized by both the Pratt Munson college classes and Community Arts programming. They will manage the budget and work with the Jewelry Studio Technician on coordinating the inventory and ordering materials. Our jewelry facility includes a fully equipped metalworking studio, equipped with acetylene/ambient air torch stations, rolling mills, flex shafts, buffing wheels, tumbler, hydraulic press, casting station equipped with 2 kilns, vacuum table, electromelt, and individual benches for students.
Faculty members are expected to be active as creative and exhibiting artists or designers and participate in service to the Pratt Munson program and the organization. Preference will be given to candidates with at least three years of experience teaching in higher education.
Salary/Benefits – Academic year salary of $48,000 - $55,000 with full benefits including health, dental, vision, and group life insurances.

Job Summary
Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, and working closely with members of the marketing team, the Communications Manager will be responsible for managing and supporting a range of marketing and communications functions with a focus on writing and editing, advertising coordination, and public relations.
The Communications Manager is responsible for ensuring widespread, consistent, and effective messaging and tone across Munson channels, including the website, publications, social media, public relations communications, and more. This position will coordinate contributors and write and/or edit copy of Munson communications, including but not limited to the Bulletin, institutional websites, Pratt Munson College of Art and Design publications, and email newsletters.
The Communications Manager collaborates with people and programs across Munson to develop lineups of articles that will appeal to the membership, attract new supporters, and reflect the goals of the strategic plan and reinforce the brand with key stakeholders across the organization’s channels. Additionally, the position will lead public relations efforts with the goal of increasing media impressions in local, national, industry-specific outlets.
Essential Job Functions
Editing/Writing/Publications
Develop well-researched, concise, and engaging content that reinforce the brand identity for all Munson communications channels, including web content, publications, email marketing, and press releases
Contribute to and develop an annual editorial calendar for communications channels, including publications, advertising campaigns, membership drives, and other major projects

Job Summary
Maintains the cleanliness of all buildings, performs floor and carpet care duties, assists with set-ups and teardowns for events and in classrooms, helps with snow and ice removal, and performs other special projects as required.
Daily tasks often depend upon what building is assigned, seasonal needs, academic year requirements, or scheduled events.

Essential Job Functions
Cleaning: Maintain the cleanliness of bathrooms, hallways, stairwells, windows, conference rooms, offices, and classrooms by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, washing using standard cleaners and procedures. (On occasion, may include unclogging toilets or sinks). Proper use of ladders is required for higher surfaces. Restock cleaning cart supplies, maintenance closets, break rooms, bathrooms, and classrooms.
Floor and carpet care: Clean, strip, and wash floor surfaces using floor machines, scrubbers, and shampooers and standard cleaners and procedures
Lighting: Routine interior and exterior light bulb changes.(Use of ladder is required for higher light fixtures.
Set ups and breakdowns: Transport, set-up, and break-down tables, chairs, risers, stage, easels, and other equipment for interior and exterior locations across campus and as outlined on set-up sheets. This work includes: Museum of Art events, exhibitions, receptions in the three Museum buildings and on the grounds; Performing Arts events, performances, and films; College of Art and Design events, receptions, information sessions, graduation ceremony, student orientation, and events in 14 Cottage and McCulley galleries, classrooms, etc; Third-party events, receptions, weddings, etc.
Snow and ice removal and salting around buildings: May include additional responsibilities during heavy snow and ice to assist grounds department to open buildings, sidewalks, parking lots, etc.
Loading dock: Accepting packages at loading docks (student center, College of Art and Design ceramics, studio building, Museum of Art) or other buildings and transport to appropriate office or location. Includes small packages and special delivery envelopes to larger packages, clay deliveries, books, and furnishings, etc.
Trash removal: Bag and remove garbage and recycle materials from buildings. Carry to dumpsters or load Munson truck for large, heavier items.
Solid Waste: Remove chemicals, artists paints, thinners, wall paints, etc. from classrooms, workshops, and student apartments during spring cleanup or as required. Will be assisted with, or instructed on, proper disposal.
Special projects: Duties may be assigned for special projects such as Summer Arts Festival, Car Show, Fine Arts and Crafts Show, annual cleanout of student rooms and kitchens at the end of the academic terms and summer session; replacing furniture in student apartments that have been moved by students; stage set-up and take-down in Sculpture Court with piping and drape; outdoor stage set-up and take-down for performances; outdoor screen, table, chairs, tenting, signage set-up and take-down for Summer Arts Festival, etc.
Other duties as assigned to assist other departments such as grounds work, watering of planters or planting beds, assisting engineering with debris cleanup, or other duties as required.

The Dean, Pratt Munson College of Art and Design will be an exceptional, dynamic, and resourceful leader who is committed to excellence in arts education and to embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion into all aspects of Pratt Munson. Pratt Munson, located in Utica, New York, is an affiliate of Pratt Institute and offers the first two years of a Pratt BFA. Upon completion of their sophomore year, students relocate to Brooklyn where they complete their final two years of study at Pratt Institute. Pratt Munson College of Art and Design is a division of the parent arts organization Munson. Founded in 1919, Munson also includes a nationally recognized Museum of Art and an active Performing Arts program.
The Dean of Pratt Munson College of Art and Design reports to the President and CEO of Munson and is the chief administrative/academic officer of the College of Art and Design and Munson’s Community Arts program. The Dean provides leadership for faculty and staff to offer high-quality educational services for students at Pratt Munson and Munson Community Arts programming. The Dean directs admissions, financial aid, academics, student life, faculty, and staff for both programs.
As part of the senior leadership team, the Dean works collaboratively with Munson’s Administration and its seven divisional directors (Treasurer, Museum of Art, Performing Arts, Marketing and Communications, Development, Facilities/Safety, and HR) to develop initiatives within the College of Art and Design and achieve educational goals and objectives that align with Munson’s strategic plan.
Serving as the College of Art and Design’s advocate, the Dean will lead assessments and forecasting for curriculum, resources, and facilities to maintain and advance programming and build agility. The Dean brings leadership in planning, setting priorities, program development, and fiscal management. The position oversees all 14 full-time faculty. Six departments also report to the Dean—Community Arts, Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Life, Registrar, and Library Services—as well as the Chair of Academic Affairs and the Chair of Foundations. The Chair of Academic Affairs recruits and oversees adjunct faculty.
Essential Job Functions
Building on Pratt Munson’s mission and Munson’s strategic plan, the Dean will:
serve as a collaborative leader who ensures the College of Art and Design implements its strategic goals while promoting open dialogue and communications, professionalism, and integrity among academic departments, staff, students, faculty, and administrators;
optimize the College’s joint credit program with Pratt Institute by ensuring academically excellent student learning that is in alignment with Pratt’s curriculum, and by supporting Student Life’s efforts to provide high-quality campus experiences for all students;

Working Environment and Hours: The Dean of the College of Art and Design will regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, sit, and may lift and carry materials for intermittent periods of time throughout the day. Significant portions of daily assignments involve the application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity. Pratt Munson College of Art and Design is currently accepting applications for a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor. The Mental Health Counselor will work with the Student Life staff, faculty and resident assistants to provide guidance, counseling and support to Pratt Munson students. This is a full-time, 10-month position that requires evening, night, and weekend crisis response.
Essential Job Functions
Review and evaluate counseling needs of students and formulate recommendations as appropriate; work with and assist students having a broad range of skills, motivation, academic and career goals; provide personal and group counseling, support and crisis emergency services, suicidal and self-harm assessment. Coordinate and correspond with students’ previous provides and parents/guardians as needed.
Create or revise all forms for the Counseling Office, including intake paperwork and releases of information
Work directly with the Health Office at Pratt Munson and the Health Services department at Pratt Institute to obtain vaccination records and other related health documentation as needed. Utilize and monitor the Docuware system to track records.
Create or revise note-taking systems for the Counseling Office and maintain up-to-date records.
Provide educational outreach and educational programs to students looking for information or help relating to issues including but not limited to: anxiety, stress management, adjustment issues, identity and crisis situations
Provide crisis intervention on an individual and campus-wide basis as needed. Postvention services may include but are not limited to: grief, bereavement and trauma
Assist the Student Life Director and Residence Life Coordinator with RA training in areas of college student mental health and other topics.
Assist with Orientation programming related to college student adjustment issues or other topics
Attend, assist, and engage in Pratt Munson events including but not limited to: Accepted Student Reception, Open House, and Commencement
Serve as a resource to staff, faculty, school administration and RA staff in areas relating to college student mental health and wellbeing
Provide liaison and referral services between students, faculty, administration and community agencies. Make appropriate referrals
Develop and present workshops and presentations to campus leadership groups (faculty/staff) on mental health issues faced by college students in order for those student leaders and professionals to be able to effectively recognize and intervene with students who are struggling
Develop Counseling Office policies and procedures
Develop institutional policies and procedures related to the safety and wellbeing of the students across campus
Facilitate and maintain personal care closet and related budget
Manage routine administrative tasks for the Counseling Office
Participate in staff and faculty meetings and serve on appropriate committees
May serve on Munson committees as required
Perform other duties as required/assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Master’s degree in counseling, clinical psychology, counseling in higher education or social work required
One to three years of professional experience required; experience in a college counseling environment preferred
Applicants must possess NYS licensure or be licensed in another state and be license-eligible in NYS as a professional counselor or social worker (license must be granted within 12 months of employment)
Excellent communication skills and polished and professional interpersonal skills to interact with Pratt Munson students, staff and faculty
Effective organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks, work independently and follow through on all assignments with minimal direction
Successful demonstration of critical thinking, consensus building and problem-solving skills
Ability to gather information, sort, draft and provide analysis for budgetary and purchasing projects
Ability to read budget reports and accurately prepare fiscal documents and forms
Compensation
Salary Range $55,341 - $65,000

Job Summary
Munson seeks a dynamic and creative individual to fill our Museum Technician position. The Museum Technician assists the Museum of Art Registrar and Exhibition Manager in maintaining galleries and exhibitions; installing, de-installing, moving, and shipping of the permanent collections and objects on loan to Munson. Work involves the use of a variety of equipment and techniques necessary to produce quality museum exhibitions. Demonstrated carpentry skills using specialty exhibition materials, occasional painting, crate making and exhibit lighting.
Essential Job Functions
Performs the installation and de-installation of permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. Work involves the use of a wide variety of equipment and techniques necessary to produce quality museum exhibitions. Maintains galleries and display materials.
Performs skilled hand and bench work; including finish carpentry using a wide variety of specialty materials (wood, metal, Plexiglas, glass, plastic, laminates) used in exhibition of museum objects. Work includes occasional painting, crate making and exhibit lighting; sets up and dismantles exhibits and is involved in all phases of picture hanging, object mounting and installation per curatorial and conservation guidelines and under the director of the Registrar and Exhibition Manager. Estimates equipment, time and materials needed to complete projects.
Maintains Museum of Art workshop and area and repairs machines and tools in the work areas to ensure the safety of the users and to meet OSHA standards. Establishes safe and effective procedures for operation of the museum workshop.
Responsible for the installation of lighting for all exhibitions, including maintaining good working order of the track lighting fixtures
Builds specialized archival storage housing for art objects. Installs and removes vinyl graphics
Works with volunteers, interns, contract labor and other museum staff as needed, including physical plant personnel who assist in construction, installation and maintenance of exhibits
In conjunction with the Registrar and Exhibition Manager, receives and unpacks art arriving at the Museum, properly prepares, wraps and crates outgoing loans, builds crates, paints cases, risers and wall mounts and assists in maintaining the Museum collection storage areas and the physical condition of the collection according to professionally accepted standards. Transports exhibition furniture to offsite storage and maintains inventory of all non-collection related storage objects including risers, crates, bonnets and display cases.
In conjunction with the Maintenance and Grounds staff, installs and removes the Summer Arts Festival fence. Prepares, installs, monitors and de-installs all artwork on the fence for the Summer Arts Festival Sidewalk show
Occasional travel or driving a medium-sized truck for business-related purposes
Performs other duties as assigned
